Our Index Stools are inspired by the pure, restrained designs of the Shaker movement — but share their heritage with an icon from the other side of the ocean: the Model 60 by Alvar Aalto. More than just an organizational perk, the Index Stools are designed to look as good when they’re neatly stacked out of the way as they do in use on the floor. The three hardwood legs fit together like a puzzle, and have a subtle offset for added stability (not to mention, a squared angle to contrast with the circular stool).

The Index Collection is an exploration of simple carpentry across forms, and the Index Stool is no exception. It’s precision milled from solid ash, a hardwood that comes from responsibly-managed forests, and the expert joinery allows each leg to be secured with just a single screw. It’s a design that reflects a humble appreciation of craftsmanship and simplicity.

Each stool has just seven parts: the seat, three legs, and a unique screw with a rubber bumper to attach each leg to the seat, and to protect the stool while stacked. You’ll be stepping up to new heights in no time.
