Luke Beard’s Guide to Westside Provisions, Atlanta
Visit Burrow House Atlanta and get to know our neighbors
Our third Burrow House showroom is now open and we couldn’t be more thrilled to call Atlanta home. Located in the go-to district of Westside Provisions, our showroom is nestled amongst a bunch of great eateries, bars, and local hang-outs ideal for a full day of browsing and buying. But considering we’re new in town, we asked Luke Beard, an Atlanta local, talented photographer, bike commuter, and CEO of cult-favorite fitness app Any Distance, to share his top spots. Here are his picks on where to go before, during, and after a visit to Burrow House.
On where to burn time and help a good cause: Brick+Mortar
Brick+Mortar is not only a wonderfully and whimsically curated vintage good store, it's also the source of some of the best (and I really do mean this) smells in ATL. The candles truly can do no wrong and not only do they make your place smell beautiful, their candles also support the women of City of Refuge. Watch out for Luna, the world's coolest ex-racing dog.
On the best place to grab a bite and consider your options: Upbeet
Upbeet should be in LA, but it somehow materialized in the Westside of Atlanta. It’s bright, fun, possibly too cool and is able to provide you with a bowl of various fresh things that don’t make you want to take a nap immediately after. It’s a great lunch or dinner option and they do a fine smoothie too. The outside seating is prime when the weather is hitting just right.
On making yourself look as good as your new furniture: The Commodore
I’ve seen my fair share of “cool” barber shops at this point (I’ve been trying and failing to be cool for a while), but The Commodore nails it. I've never had a bad cut and I always end up laughing through the banter of the staff. Be sure to check out their merch.
On the bar that’s perfect for celebrating your good taste in design: Little Trouble
Often referred to as the “Blade Runner” bar, this is hands down my favorite well lit/dark hole in the city. It’s bathed in neon hues of red to blue and feels like a retro-futurist gem. Look for the long corridor lit by large neon and follow the great music. Order a highball or grab the “Extremely Bad Man” for some apricot, ginger fun. Food is provided by Mushi Ni, a phenomenal Asian fusion kitchen. Tempura Fried Oreos? Yes!
On where to bike to for cool eats and even cooler interior vibes: Big Boss
Just down 10th street and over the highway you will find Big Boss, a family-owned restaurant with a vibey new renovation and rebrand. It has awesome traditional, fast, and delicious Chinese with an interior that makes you feel like you are in the next big Netflix movie. Play some Street Fighter II and visit the bathroom, the hallway is worth it.
On the local joint that fixes your bike and your N64 cravings: Earl’s Bike Shop
I ride my bike everywhere I can and whenever I need a tuneup or need to fix something I’ve left too long, I head to Earl’s. A local bike legend and a truly community-driven bike store. You can even play N64 while you wait.
Editor’s note: We love bike commuting, especially because you can ride your bike to Burrow House, and we’ll ship everything free, straight to your door. No sitting in traffic with a couch in the trunk required!
