Setting the Scene: How to Elevate Your Streaming Setup
If you’re like the rest of us, spending more time on your sofa also means more streaming. If you’re Perhaps hours and hours of streaming. Whether it’s Netflix, Disney+ or Hulu, we’ve got recommendations to make binge watching the latest series even more enjoyable.
A coffee table that serves a whole lot more than coffee
Dining room tables are nice, for folks that have them. But we’re not worried about them. They can fend for themselves. For the rest of us, we need a coffee table that’ll repel stains, and ideally allows us to lean back to snack. Enter the Carta Coffee Table, with a top made of three removable trays, so you can balance an entire spread on your lap instead of trying to balance a wine glass on the cushion.
A pillow to lean on, and a pillow to hold
Whether you’re having another weepy evening watching “Steel Magnolias” for the 400th time or keeping one eye open trying to get through the latest reboot of “It,” you need a sturdy yet soft pillow to bear your emotions. Go for one that’s oversized and extra fluffy so you can really throw your whole weight into it — but one that also looks really cool on your couch. You’re still an adult, after all.
Furniture that allows the entire audience to recline
If you’re Netflixing for one, stretching out for a day-long James Bond marathon is a no-brainer. Buf if it’s a binge watch for two or more, it’s time to go modular. Make sure you both have room to kick your feet up with a dual chaise setup — might we recommend the Nomad Double Chaise Sectional, or a Range 6-Piece Sectional Double Lounger? Bonus: all of our fabrics are stain-resistant, so don’t sweat it if you spill a glass of wine during a heated debate over who was the best Bond (it’s Craig, you don’t have to defend Sir Sean anymore).
A scent to set the mood
Your nose knows that move night need a candle. Preferably many of them. Lights should be low, the atmosphere ethereal, and the ambiance should make you snicker at all the people sitting in those cold, unfeeling, stale popcorn-scented theaters while you’re cuddled up with the best of the best. Find a scent that makes you feel luxurious — it’s intensely subjective, but we’re particular fans of Brooklyn Candle Studio, P.F. Candle Co., and if you really want to splurge, D.S. & Durga.
Step up from the slushies
Unless you don’t want to. If we had room for an official Icee machine, we’d probably go for it. But at home, you’re completely free to set your own course — and you have access to your personal liquor collection, arranged neatly on a Dram Bar Cart right beside the couch, right? Even if your adult beverage of choice is the most tannic, bold, dark red this side of Bordeaux, you don’t have to fret a spill — put it on a tray, and if the worst comes to pass, all of our upholstery options are easy to clean.
Pop it like it’s hot
A movie night without popcorn is like a cookie without milk. It’s just not right. So, go for a theme with classic, reusable, red-and-white popcorn boxes — or settle for a bowl. You don’t have to worry about grease, because our fabrics can be cleaned up with literal bleach. Might we suggest crafting your own perfect blend of oils, salts, and spices, and popping some Rancho Gordo kernels on the stovetop? (Your faithful editor’s recipe: coconut oil, coarse salt, black pepper, and nothing else).
And after the credits
Our first store in SoHo, Burrow House, originally had a secret movie theater in the basement — so you could say we’re passionate about this stuff. Do you share that passion? Find us on Instagram @burrow and tell us your tricks to a perfect streaming setup.
